Does Loyola New Orleans find preceptors for NP students?

Loyola asks NP and DNP students to select their own preceptor and site. Its Clinical Practicum Coordinator handles affiliation agreements and compliance, and Exxat's Explore Clinical Locations map shows sites that already have agreements. Nurse-Midwifery, Nurse Anesthesia and the BSN programs are different: the program assigns those sites.

How early should I start looking for a Loyola preceptor?

At least three months before the practicum, per Loyola's FNP guide, and the whole process can take that long. A site that needs a new or heavily edited affiliation agreement can take several months, so the guide also tells you to keep a backup site.

How many clinical hours does the Loyola FNP need?

800 in the MSN FNP: four Family Primary Care Management practicums of 200 hours, with FPCM III split into 150 pediatric and 50 obstetric hours. The BSN-DNP FNP adds 540 scholarly project hours for 1,340.

Can I do Loyola practicum hours in any state?

Not every state. Loyola's State Approvals Map restricts Alaska, California and New York and marks Hawaii, Montana and Wyoming not approved, while its licensure table lists those states differently. Check both and ask the School of Nursing before you commit to a site.

Where do you find Loyola preceptors?
